Recovery community organizations (RCOs) are the heart and soul of the recovery movement. In the last ten years, RCOs have proliferated across the country; however, too often recovery voices are marginalized and ineffective because the work is shouldered primarily by lone individuals; or, as we know from past great social movements, the public, policy makers and the media can easily ignore individual voices.
ARCO, the Association of Recovery Community Organizations. unites and supports this growing network of local, regional and statewide recovery community organizations (RCOs) enabling them to become major hubs for recovery-focused policy, advocacy activities and becoming players in systems change initiatives.
ARCO links RCOs and their leaders with local and national allies and provides training and technical assistance to groups. ARCO helps build the unified voice of the organized recovery community so we can fulfill our commitment to supporting the development of more RCOs and strengthening existing ones.
Faces and Voices of Recovery (FAVOR) Pee Dee is proud to be a founding member of ARCO and we continue to be active participants in ARCO events and discussions.
