September is National Recovery Month!
Every September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) sponsors Recovery Month to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders and celebrate the people who recover. Recovery Month promotes the societal benefits of prevention, treatment, and recovery and celebrates recovery promoting the message that recovery in all its forms is possible. Recovery Month spreads the positive message that recovery is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover.
During Recovery Month, FAVOR Pee Dee hosts a variety of events celebrating the success of people in recovery and provide valuable information about prevention, treatment and recovery support. With a new theme every year, Rallies for Recovery happen in home towns across the United States.
Attending a Recovery Month event is an ideal way to inspire others by sharing our real-life experiences, celebrating our successes in recovery and showing our communities that we do recover!
