Family Support Groups

COMING IN 2018 family-support

When an individual suffers from addiction, the whole family suffers from addiction. For family and friends of people with substance use disorders, addressing the addiction is one of the most difficult aspects of helping the addicted person seek treatment. Often, over time, daily family involvement has only managed to enable the addict. Family members frequently do not know how to bring up the issue of addiction therapy, and opt to ignore the problem for fe

ar of pushing their loved one away during a confrontation or intervention. These are legitimate concerns, but it is also important to know that most patients seek help from this disease because of positive family involvement and intervention.

Families and friends who’ve been affected by addiction also need comfort and support. By associating with other family members who are going through a similar situation, it helps them advance in their own recovery process. This is how emotional healing begins, and why support groups for families of people with substance use disorders are so important.

Support groups allow members to help each other. By not only receiving support, but by also giving it, family member’s involvement is increased and more is gained from the experience. All programs are free of charge. Our Family Support Group will begin in the first quarter of 2017 so keep an eye on our Calendar of Events!
